Debian as server platform?

I'm a Debian ignoramus so please forgive if these are dum-dum questions ...

- Would anyone have any serious reservations about using Debian stable 
as a server platform?

- Coming from primarily a COL/RH background, what will I find different 
or strange in Debian?

- What, if any, are the disadvantages of a non-commercial distro like 
Debian?
