What sort of Anti-Spam solution does this list use

On another list, I just got this from someone on the list after posting
a message:

Hi,

This is Ted, well, sort of.

Like many people, I was getting tons SPAM and it was driving me crazy.
This message is automatically sent to you by some SPAM filtering
software on my computer because you haven't yet been put on my list of
acceptable email address. To get on that list you only have to reply to
this message. As most SPAMMERS use fake email addresses this filtering
software will get the message that the SPAMMERS message is from a fake
email address and weed it out. Very cool.

I found out about the software because a message like this was sent to
me and I went to the website (http://www.softwaredevelopment.net.au).
My sister Sally has a similar service through her ISP (Earthlink). I
like that better because messages don't even get to her mailbox that
aren't validated. Unfortunately my ISP, Roadrunner, doesn't have this
kind of service, so I am doing it myself.

So, sorry about the 'automated response'. Sorry if you are offended
that you are not already on my 'accepted address' list. Nothing
personal. Click reply without changing the message and send it back to
me. The SPAM software will see your reply, put your name on the
accepted list and from then on all your messages will get to my inbox
without delay. Your original message will be delivered at that time, so
you don't have to resend it.

And check out this software. It's caught over 1,000 pieces of SPAM in a
couple of weeks.

All the best,
Ted

(BTW, if you are a mass marketing firm, please don't try to bypass this
software. While it may work, I can guarantee you I will not buy
anything you are selling, or go to your website, etc.)
