yeah, my sense is that they're probably not, in that they're giving it 
away and in that their docs -- both functional and promotional -- refer 
to caldera and even peanut linux. so we're probably talking a 
wordperfect situation here, and past a certain point the necessity of 
formulating some elaborate wrapper business to get it to work, as in 
staroffice in the glibc-2.07 days.

which is their fault, sure, but also underlines a weakness in free 
software in general, which is the utter disrespect for anything 
approaching backward compatability. it's not as if things are 
deliberately broken, but there's no attention paid to not breaking 
things, either.
