Alma, all you have to do is look at the transition from CPM to DOS to 
wintendo. Once each of these O/S's were accepted, the software followed. 
The only reason M$ took over the role of "software provider" was that M$ 
killed off any competition it could find. Were it not for the "M$ 
terrorism" there would be a lot more software offerings then there is at 
the present for any of the wintendo offerings. During the DOS frenzy, 
the listings at sunsite for DOS programs were endless. Take a look at 
sourceforge and come back and tell me that we need M$ to move forward 
with linux. M$ is a lie, a bucket full of holes and empty promises whose 
time has come to joint the rest of the dinosaurs.
