Not in my most recent experience (SUSE 9.0).
It worked for a few days after 9.0 install. Then I deleted and reorganized
some partitions. SUSE root is hda6, deleted hda7 (rest of disk) and created
hda7,8,9. This has been a safe operation with all other fs. After normal
shutdown, reiser could not find the superblock on hda6. No attempts at
recovery would make the journal usable. Fortunately, my /home partition was
readable, so I made a backup copy and reinstalled using ext3.
Obviously, lots of people have good results with reiserfs, but when it goes
south, it goes all the way.
