Never mind: was Re: Why won't NTP synchronize?

I'd been doing without NTP for months and months.  Sending this email
caused me to fool with it a bit more, and the solution emerged:
I hadn't realized that the "restrict" command requires a host IP
number, and that a hostname will not do.  Accordingly, all servers
were getting the default treatment, rendering them useless.

I put in host IP numbers, and all is well.  Sorry to bother you.
