thanks. i worry a little about that; the bad news is that i have to 
drive nearly 1,000 miles tomorrow. the good news is that it's to see my

thanks for this, too. i managed to get it all just about done, and then 
the person for whom the machine was being upgraded dropped by and was 
singularly unpleasant, to the point of tossing off a snippy "you, too" 
in response to a warm "merry christmas." meaning that at the moment i 
do not give a toot whether it works or not.
