input needed on Debian

If you want a mindless debian experience, with a computer that just works,
consider lindows. Since going with lindows I have forgotten a lot of
stuff. I just use my computer without having to worry about configuring
things. Lindows is trying hard to do to linux users what MS did to users
of DOS.

Imagine my joy when, without any configuration effort from me, I could
play audio from Rush Limbaugh without messing with mozilla or crossover,
etc. I still have trouble with some web sites playing multimedia, but
this may involve java problems.

The only configuration mess I have had with lindows was getting my
PDA to sync (usb). Other than that, everything has worked with little
effort. I still haven't been able to compile a kernel on lindows, but,
this hasn't been necessary, either.

And, by paying modest amounts of money to Lindows, you really are taking
whacks at the Evil Empire. Lindows is involved with multiple lawsuits
with MS.

About the only software I haven't gotten from the Warehouse is xv.
It really is click and run. However, it seems to be a true debian system,
and apt-get and all the rest work fine, too. But, I rarely have to resort
to just basic commands these days.

Although lindows is designed for the clueless, and runs as root by
default, it can be easily configured for serious work (sendmail, print
server.) and multiple users. Running as root as a single user desktop
machine has few drawbacks and lots of advantages.
