Building RPMs question

I don't know. Once you've done a few it's not so bad. I like to start off with a template and just fill in the sections. The thing I don't like about CheckInstall for some things is the lack of flexibility after the files are placed. "Rolling your own" allows you to run scripts before and after installing or uninstalling, as well as create SRPMs and have complex build sections. Also important to note is that you can avoid RPMS that think they own "/lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/modules.dep" and "/etc/ld.so.conf", etc...
