I have done this as well. The only gottcha is that if you use IMAP, your
mail, having not been deleted, will show up as marked for deletion on other
mail readers. For example, I use Evolution at home and Sylpheed at work
(evolution looms on the horizon there). When I 'detete' a file in Evolution,
it does not show up (I have checked the 'don't show' box). However, when I
get to work, Sylpheed shows me these as marked for deleting. The very first
message I delete in Sylpheed causes all the ones marked by Evolution to be
deleted as well. I choose to view it as a safety measure...
I have not selected 'Empty trash on exit'. Maybe I should.
