I installed Fedora as an upgrade to RHL 8.0.
I used apt4rpm and up2date (the free, survey version) to keep the system
updated with RHL 8.0 and use yum now. I've configured the livna.org
repostiory as well as fedora core and fedora.us.
Recently installed frozen-bubble with a simple 'sudo yum frozen-bubble' and
got all the dependancies worked out and frozen-bubble installed in about 5
minutes. Just updated my kernel for the recent security issue a couple days
ago, no problems, yet.
The main issue I still have is that checkinstall doesn't seem to work anymore,
but I haven't done much to work it out, either (other than
recompile/re-install checkinstall, which didn't seem to work.) Most of the
apps I use work the same, apache, webcal, postnuke, gwc, kmail, firebird. Oh,
there is one other problem... my preferred GUI sound recording app,
gnome-sound-recorder, doesn't work anymore (a known bug) :-(
I've taken to recording from my soundcard using sox and the command line (rec
-t wav -r 44100 -s w -c 2 -v .8 <filename>.wav).
The main difference, though? I get access to updates without filling out a RH
survey every X months.
