| This might be true, but it'd be a bear of a commute to Pittsburgh

which, geez, reminds me of when i moved to the northeast 25 years ago. i
was working for gannett in westchester county, new york. apartments
were sheer hell to find. so i ended up staying for a couple months at
and commuting from pittsfield, massachusetts. three and a half hours
each way. the worst was one night when i had a meeting to cover that by
the time i had filed the story was way late, and an assignment at 9 the
following morning. i got to within 20 miles of the house where i was
staying when i realized that if i didn't turn around and head back
*right now* i'd be late for my morning assignment.
and yeah, the traffic in iowa is light and the roads are really straight
also.
