pcmcia question on gentoo

   I did something and now floppy will mount. Only problem now is starting xfce
from xdm. Tried everything I know to get xfwm to start and give me xfce desktop.
I am using xfce 3.18, tried and have xfce4, but I preferred 3.18. New one doesnot
act right for me, Does have nice Icons, just a conservitive person here. Probably
great for others & that is fine.
