cp weirdness on /dev

I am not sure if I understand your question.
I can write directly to machine B's hard drive with anytypes of files, it
seems, except files which are devices or perhaps reside in /dev. It was odd
that cp and ls followed the links that existed in /dev. All very strange.
What is even stranger is that I have never heard about this. Either
there is something odd configured about my setup (seems unlikely, since
machine B is a straight out of the box lindows setup), or, devfs has
some odd quirks not yet worked out.
