I use the brute-force method.  (which works regardless of language)

Make a copy of the file.
Start hacking away from the bottom up
remove 'paragraphs of stuff' and try the file.
(repeat the above until the file works)
Go back to the original and look at the last 'stuff' you removed to make 
it work.
