(Replying to my own post.)
I changed the temp file location to my /home partition which has about
25GB free and Audacity now tells me I could record 42 hours of audio! I
think that will suffice :-)
I may test it today by recording a CD playing in a loop and see if
perhaps I really can record, say, 5 hours.
So far this new pre version of Audacity is a very impressive app.
