I think the direction devfs went to somewhat automating the
creation/deletion of device handles was a good thing. It also sort of
removes the temptation of the distro builder from moving where things
are. Is it /dev/raw1 or /dev/raw/raw1? Still, you have to figure out the
name of the damn thing and which one to use no matter. Our Linux device
drivers do not use devfs mainly because al-Q-SCO did not compile in support
in the distros we used when making the drivers. We were just planning on
adding that support. Glad we are behind schedule :-)
