Linux server packet loss - stopped occassionally

What kind of hub are you using?  Some hubs/switches (LinkSys are known for this) don't do 10mb very well, at least with Linux.  I'd stick in a 100MB card before going any further.  As mentioned, these are relatively inexpensive.
