Unknown host error message when trying to ping Internet

Yes. I can ping 216.229.33.250 and get a reply. But if I try and ping
"pcisys.net" (216.229.33.250 is the nameserver for pcisys.net), I get
the "unknown host pcisys.net" error message.
So how do I correct this?
