The article has been updated, now titled "Red Hat to change development 
model, abandon shrinkwrap (UPDATED)." I can tell you that retail isn't
where you make your money, it simply keeps you in front of the public
and gets you name recognition. Monday's announcement should prove more
informative.

Caldera's downfall started long before they dropped retail support,
as Llama pointed out.
