Well, lindows is very easy to use. Perhaps too easy. I don't
compile anything anymore. Debian package management makes that
sorta unnecessary. Maybe I am getting fat and lazy. Go visit their
warehouse and get the idea. And, you can use apg-get or synaptic to
look elsewhere. Pretty much everything installs and runs with one click.
Imagine, flash and java worked right out of the box with netscape, now
whatever in lindows 4.0. The same for video players, including realplayer
and a quicktime player. I never had this easy plugin support for a browser
until I went to lindows. Sound card problems? Not in lindows, although
when I loaded XP on this lindows box audio wasn't supported. Still isn't
in XP.
And, running as root most of the time, an anathema for the hardcore,
makes life easier. (Obviously, this is only for a single user on a throw
away box.)
And, I am sure this ease of use is why I no longer have the patience to
make my Zire talk to my linux box. Linux doesn't have to be a pain.
So, I recommend lindows to people who want things to work out of the box.
It's not perfect, but, this is linux after all.
