| I'm of the opinion that Lindows is simply trying to portray itself
| as somehow immune from prosecution by SCO. If the "press conference"
| that SCO had today (as dep reported at
http://www.linuxandmain.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=360)
is accurate -- and I have no reason to
| believe that it isn't -- then Lindows, as a SCO customer, is precisely
| one of the targets SCO is sighting in.

One of the things that seems contradictory was Darl Mc Bride's statement
of: "As to the copyrights, I have two points to make: First, the
copyrights are not important to our current enforcement action. Second,
we have stated in the past and we reiterate today that we own the Unix
copyrights and the right to enforce these copyrights."
Now if the copyrights are not important as he says in the first
sentence, then what's the purpose of the statement that they have the
right to enforce them in the second sentence? If they have a contractual
agreement to Lindows, and Lindows has released this code, are they not
obligated to commit the crime they're accusing others of? If they don't,
they've violated their contract with Lindows, and if they do, they've
violated their own "so called" copyright infringement. There's no
possible way for them to come out a winner, no matter which way the
decision goes. I also suspect that you'll see quite a few of the
customers they claim to have scurrying away from them like rats running
from a burning barn. Lindows might really have inadvertently put the
nail in SCO's coffin with this, even if it was completely unintentional.
Stay tuned, 'cause it's going to get really interesting....
