Easy umlauts?

I?m assuming you?re talking in X (KDE).  This is a function of your X
server xkboard.  On mine, I use: Option "XkbLayout"  "us_intl"
in my XF86Config-4 file.

Then, I use the "dead" keys to create the composite characters.  The
dead keys are : " ' and ~.  The first time you hit them, nothing prints.
 Hit the letter key and you get the composite character.  If you need
the particular : " ' , etc., then hit space afterward and you?ll have
what you want.

Unfortunately, OO wipes this and doesn?t accept the composites.
