TextMaker?

Frame can give out text only. Even RFT. What I would really like is an
import that would 'simply' maintain tags for items. That is, whatever the
tag is in the old system is, it has a name. In the new system, just make
tags (paragraph properties, whatever the new system calls the gadgets) and
give it the same name. I do not care if the properties of the tags are
used. Just keep the name. Then I can go and define what the different tags
are in the new system, according to the new system's view of the universe.
However (and here is the biggie) I do not need to go and reassign tags to
all text/paragraphs. This in itself would be a huge time saver.
StarOffice had a MIF (FrameMaker Interchange Format) filter. However (and
this struck me as unusually odd), it only took the text. All Maker tags
were ignored. Duh. Can you say 'text import'. The same things (tags
as a concept) exist in SO/OO. But they were dropped by the input filter. I
was going to go from Maker-> SO -> OO. Well, the docs went nowhere. I also
decided to not buy SO anymore.
I would try again if the FrameMaker filter worked.
Maybe this is where I figure out OO's XML and do my own conversion from
MIF. In my 'spare time'. (Quick check to see if wife is looking over
shoulder...)
