As of my last 'emerge sync', there was nothing there.  Just get the
binary packages from Mozilla and unpack in /opt (see my new SxS for
MozillaFirebird). You can use the script below to run Thunderbird.  It
works OK, but there aren't many preferences yet (fonts/sizes is a big
failing), but it works.

MOZILLA_PATH="/opt/thunderbird"

        ${MOZILLA_PATH}/thunderbird $@
