$200 computer and XP: No good

I wrote a while back that my $200 lindows computer seems to run fine with
XP, too.

I must now sadly relate that after using this more heavily with XP the thang
crashes a lot.

I installed all the XP service updates, and most (excepting the network
option) of the XP drivers on the CD included with the motherboard,
but no help.

XP did warn that the audio drivers hadn't been XP approved, but I installed
them anyway.

Whether or not the audio is playing, the $200 special running XP and
Powerpoint crashes about every two hours.

After the first crash it refused to reboot windows. Luckily, I could
still boot into linux and salvage my visual basic work. Since it takes 2
to 3 hours to install XP, Office, and all service packs, not to mention
java and realplayer and other essentials, I really don't think I'll be
using my $200 special to run XP anymore.

So, I cannot recommend this $200 special for running XP. It does run
lindows very nicely, with NO crashes.

Luckily, my daughter came home from college this week. So, I can use
her very nice Compaq Presario computer for my Powerpoint work.
