Dual+ card reader question.

Hi Guys,

This particular reader model has caused me alot of grief in the past.  My systems have locked up tight each time one of them has been connected, especially at boot time.  BTW, I have 2 of these as well as several other model/make around, all have done the lockup thing at least a few times.  I've taken to not using them on any of my systems, thinking this was a lack in proper support under Linux, at least kernels up to 2.4.20 (I've been watching the changelogs.)

It would appear that perhaps my issue is something else.  I read the article from Linux Journal (Thanks!) but I had already done everything in the article, with the exception of the links in /dev (that wouldn't be a big deal would it?).

I had begun to think this hotplug daemon, Slack 9 has it, might be a requirement.

I guess I am looking for further information.  Anyone have any more detailed articles or nuggets of wisdom on this subject?
