No, the Libranet 2.8 installer does not ask if you have an IEEE 1284 
printer.  It asks if you want it to scan for a printer.
If the connected printer is IEEE 1284 compliant, or USB, it will detect, 
identify and configure it for CUPS during the installation.
It cannot do so with old stuff like my HP520 squirter or Panasonic 1124 
dot-matrix.

And, of course, the ECP/EPP option in the BIOS has to be set.  If I'd 
have charged $20 for each time I've helped Joe Blow new (insert name of 
OS here) user  each time I've solved the "my printer doesn't work" 
problem set, I'd be driving a 93 Volvo and be able to afford to keep it 
running!
