It does.  It's just that anymore with giant companies owning the rights 
to most of the music, they just go to Washington and throw around some 
$$$$ to buy your congressmana and have them revise the copyright laws 
to extend the copyrights length.  

This actually just happen a few months ago.  A ton of Disney work was 
getting ready to expire and, of course, they couldn't allow Mickey to 
go into the public domain so they bought new legislation to extend the 
rights.  

Money may not be able to buy love, but it can certainly buy laws and 
politicians.
