I just bought an Antec "smart fan" as a front fan for one of my noisy boxes.

The fan has a thermistor that regulates fan speed and noise. It is supposed to be an exhaust fan,

monitoring case temperature and ratcheting up speed as the air temperature rises, but I'm using it

as a front inlet fan. It is substantially quieter than the usual case fan. Costs about $17 at Circuit City.
