Quick CD copy question

i'm not entirely sure, but i don't think it would work.  i've had
excellent success ripping DVDs with DVD::Rip & transcode (see the SxS that
i wrote).  If it was as simple as just using dd, trust me, i would have
(and no one would have bothered with the other tools).

for starters, you
can't use cdrecord to burn DVDs. i think the UDF filesystem (that DVDs
use) is part of the reason.  see:
