Hosed my system. Knoppix won't fix it.

Sorry, Joel, but that's not a Knoppix problem.. I've never had luck with chroot
and lilo. I've always found myself cp-ing the lilo.conf file to someplace
else, editing it so that the paths are correct without chroot and running lilo
from whatever I've booted to. This goes beyond Knoppix, as I've tried this
many times from different OS-installs on the same system, etc....
Sorry that you had issues with /boot disappearing (or at least your kernel).
