you named the file incorrectly when you created the RPM with checkinstall.
if 'rpm -q samba' returns nothing, yet the above command works, then you
included the version in the name of the package.  Now, why the library is
missing is a completely separate mystery, however if you're misnaming
packages, that certainly isn't simplifying this puzzle.
