Hosed my system. Knoppix won't fix it.

The new kernel is added automatically. The old one is renamed to 
kernel-nnnnn.old and added to the grub menu.

Also, for those with nvidia cards, in the newest libranet, the nvidia 
drivers (latest version) are installed on request during the os 
installation, and survive a kernel recompile, remaining active.
