I went through this hell yesterday afternoon. To make a very long story
short, i ended up checking faad2 out of cvs, and that built without any
special voodoo. All other versions & attempts failed miserably with
errors similar to those that youv'e run into. However, i'll note that
even after all this nonsense, MPLayer still refused to play sound in the
new Matrix trailer. Even more interesting is that Xine, before i
installed faad2, was fully capable of playing the new Matrix trailer
with sound. So, i gave up on this personal crusade to make Mplayer do
what Xine was quite capable of doing with half the hassle.
