Toshiba Tecra 8000 - Display Resolution

Folks,

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000.

I have installed Redhat 9.0 on it and it has detected the correct video 
drivers, I selected the "Generic Laptop Dispaly 1024x768".

My problem is it absolutely refuses to use 1024x768 it defaults back to 
800x600.

Can anyone tell me what I have to do to hack XF86Config so that it uses 
the correct resolution. Using redhat-config-xfree86 does diddley.

I had Mandrake 9.0 on it and was able to use 1024x768 so I know it's 
possible and that the display support the mode.
