Compiling XV on debian (lindows) system

Has anybody compiled xv on a debian system (lindows)? I get lots of
errors for libs not found, mainly X libraries. I edited the Makefile to
reflect the location  where they are supposed to be (/usr/X11R6/lib),
but they aren't there. Neither is a file Xos.h anywhere to be found on
my computer, although it is included in the xv.h file.

Any insight appreciated.
