I'm not an "emerge guru" but I've find epm to be just fine for me
(emerge epm). epm is a small tool that accept most of rpm command line
options. I'm not sure how many options it supports, but I've tried:
epm -qa
epm -q <pkg_name>
epm -ql <pkg_name>
epm -qf </path/to/file>

and they worked :)
