The ImageMagick ``convert'' program can be used to coerce images into some
specified geometry, scaling as necessary. I use this in a perl script to
create thumbnails of all the images in a directory, creating HTML pages
indexing the images. Using these pages with Opera, and having opera set to
pull images up with the gimp is a handy way of being able to select from a
library of images for editing.
