Windows client, linux X server

I like tightvnc (or vnc). Each user can have his/her
own uniquely configured session; and this can be
different from the desktop that would appear if the
user was logging in locally. For example, on a server
at work, I can log into a KDE desktop; but when I use
tightvnc to login remotely, I use something lighter
(xfce).
Since I don't want the vncserver using resources all
the time; I use ssh to login and turn vncserver on
manually before I login graphically. I use the same
ssh session to turn it off when I'm done.
Tightvnc and vnc are available for many operating
systems; and work across different platforms. There's
even a vnc client for Windows CE to extend the
usefulness of a PDA by leaps and bounds.
