mozilla menubar vanished!?

I'm completely stumped, and hope that someone has a suggestion.  I'm
running mozilla-1.2.1, and all was well yesterday.  today, i fire up
mozilla, and the menubar is completely missing (File, Edit, etc).  I made
no theme or preferences changes yesterday, so i can't figure out how this
happened.  also, none of my bookmarks are appearing, even though i've
verified them to be there on disk.  and finally, the right-click mouse
menu no longer appears either.  any ideas?  i'd really rather not wipe out
the profile and start over.
