Compiled kernel, now how do I do initrd image

Hello All,

I have compiled the 2.4.20 kernel for RH 8. I have copied the bzImage
to /boot and named it vmlinuz-2.4.20-1.8.0. I have added this to menu.lst
in /boot/grub (RH 8 uses grub), but I need to create initrd-2.4.20-1.img
Do I run mkintrd? And if so, what is the syntax to create the above file?
Yes, I have lilo in /sbin/lilo. Do I need to worry about System.map?
