Actually, if you can define the categories, this sounds incredibly easy to
write (in Perl, anyway, using DBI and DBD::Pg to a PostgreSQL backend). 
If you don't find anything, and I get some time after this weekend, I
could probably whip something up in a few hours.  The important thing is
that you properly define the categories you need (and the size of those
fields -- and IIRC, BLOBS can't be indexed).
