Caldera, in the 3.x release, installs two versions of rpm: 2.5.5 and 3.0.6.
They make the 3.0.6 the default. 'ls -l /usr/lib/librpm*' lists:

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       129750 Apr 15  2002 librpmbuild.a

-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root          626 Apr 15  2002 librpm.la

There is also a /usr/include/rpm as well as a /usr/include/rpm-2.5.5

Maybe whatever you are compiling wants a different release than the one it
is using. So, the $64000 questions are: (1) what is the actual complaint,
(2) which rpm does the app want, and (3) which is it actually using?
