Anyone had much success with RAID 5 IDE

Hi yall,

I am busy designing a small network and I was wondering if anyone had any 
experience with firstly RAID 5 IDE Cards i.e. the Promise Variety.

Also the imbedded RAID controllers on the motherboards now... I would like to 
use them as a RAID 1 setup to provide OS mirroring in event of failure.... 
Anyone with experience Good/Bad on this sort of thing?

I think the more opinions you get the better the end result.
