rpm on redhat 8 is hoarked

configuration of RH R8.0 using rpm. GCC 3.2 never even had a chance to 
play a roll
in the system hoark(s)... The source code(s) were never compiled, Nobody 
got that far...

Also, you can install multiple versions of a compiler on a single 
machine, but it's a PITA
and can be dangerous even if your careful. I'd never do it to satisfy a 
disto's quirks.
