CUPS and filters

I am thinking of making the transition to CUPS from LPRng...  seems to be the 
thing to do.

I have a filter that I run with LPRng that removes a binary zero at the front 
of a print file.  (one of my apps wants to do that strange thing)

I have been trying to figure out how to add a filter to CUPS but have not been 
successful.  Has anyone else done this??

No information on CUPS was found in the SxS.
