This is a routing issue, The default Home page for Mozilla should come
up fine. It does for me.

Oh, I see, you typed "home page" but you meant default search engine.
If you don't want Netscape, use Google. Google works for me, and it's
quite fast. I believe you can even configure your own, although it may
involve editing the user.js file in your profile. You might find info here:

I haven't looked real hard (as I said, Mozilla's search feature, using
Google, works great for my purposes) for a user.js code for adding a
default search engine.

Or, you can create a bookmark keyword that points to the search engine
you want...
