Error rebuilding glibc from SRPM

Hi, getting this error when trying to 'rpm --rebuild' Caldera's latest glibc (glibc-2.2.4-24.src.rpm):

+ chmod u+w configure
+ /usr/bin/autoconf

I believe that this is an autoconf/automake error, since I've updated the Cadlera supplied autoconf and automake in order to get kde cvs to compile. I suspect that if I back out that update and install Caldera's autoconf/automake, I can get around this error. My question is, is there another way? (or am I off base?)
