SuSE 8.0 Installation problems

Hi Susan!

Have you booted into the BIOS of the machine and checked the 
configuration of all devices (Cards and system board devices)?
Look for conficting irq's.... The reason I say this is that
your machine boots, everthing works as advertised and then it
dies without warning. I have seen similar problems with other
machines and in almost every case, one of the devices in the
machine was using the same irq as the hard drive controller.
Both USB controllers and sound cards can occupy the same irq
as the hard drive and the machine will function until the
USB controller or sound card are used. I've also seen mice do
this, but it was with a caldera distro about 2 or 3 years ago.
